About me

Background

My name is Liam Wilson Neidig. I was born in Fort Wainwright, Alaska on May 29th, 2002. My parents are Chad and Amy Neidig. I have one sister named Hailey. I grew up a military brat, but I have lived in Lansing, Kansas most of my life. I graduated from Lansing Senior High School as my class's salutatorian. I attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City for one semester before breaking my leg and UMKC losing their running program. I am currently studying applied mathematics with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. I really like insects of the order Hymenoptera (bees, ants, sawflies, and wasps) and birds. When I am not running or studying, I am probably playing the trading card game, Magic: The Gathering. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and learn a little bit about me.

Running

I have been running since I was 14 years old and since then it has become a huge part of my life. I am currently on the University of Saint Mary Men’s Cross Country and Track teams. I started running when a previous girlfriend of mine took me to a community 5k and proceeded to whoop my butt in the race. So, after that, I gave up on the soccer dreams and decided to pick up running. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Running is paying for my college and taking me all over the world. Running makes me a stronger and tougher person. I love the delayed gratification that you get from training. After a major injury in the fall of 2020, I've gotten back into shape and feel the fastest I have ever been. I am a middle-distance guy on the track, and I run the 8K like everyone else in Cross Country. I am an all American in the 4x800m relay and I plan on being an all American in many more events. #RFGA

Stomach

I have a really messed up stomach. I was born with celiac disease and later in life I developed a condition called gastroparesis (GP, for short.) This means that I cannot eat anything with gluten or diary in it. Celiac is an autoimmune disorder that makes your stomach attack itself whenever you eat something that triggers it. GP makes it so my stomach is partially paralyzed. So, this means whenever I eat something I am not supposed to, my stomach will start to attack itself which causes stress on my system. Stress makes the GP symptoms even worse which means the food that makes my stomach attack itself stays in my stomach for a longer period. This leads to a feel-bad feedback loop wherein I spend up to a week in pain. I would not recommend what I have. It can be brutal sometimes.

My favorite quote

"I know you're tired. I know you're hurting, and I wish I could say something that was classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be our style. Pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever."
